The Church of the Holy Comforter, Richmond Virginia, in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. The title of this blog comes from the book of the same name by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In Life Together, Bonhoeffer describes Christian community as a gift from God. Our church is a gift from God for those who take part in the life of our faith community and a gift to those we serve in Christ's name. This blog is about our life together as the members and friends of Holy Comforter.

Stephanie Roberts-Turner Honored, Hilary Smith and Craig Anderson elected
Every January the Diocese of Virginia meets in a council to do the business of the church in its north-of-the-James to northern Virginia geography. The January 23 to 25 meeting honored one parishioner and elected two from Holy Comforter to high office.
Stephanie Roberts-Turner was honored with the Happy Pullman award for her work in caring for people outside the church.
Priest-in-Charge Hilary Smith was elected to the national church deliberative council called “General Convention”. That too is an honored position in which she has voice and vote on the business of the national church.
Craig Anderson was elected to the Standing Committee of the diocese. This group advises the bishop on all manner of things. He joins Holy Comforter parishioner Steve Van Voorhees on the committee.
