The Church of the Holy Comforter, Richmond Virginia, in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. The title of this blog comes from the book of the same name by Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In Life Together, Bonhoeffer describes Christian community as a gift from God. Our church is a gift from God for those who take part in the life of our faith community and a gift to those we serve in Christ's name. This blog is about our life together as the members and friends of Holy Comforter.

Pastoral Care - Caring for Each Other
On Tuesday August 27th, our priest-in-charge, Hilary, met with a number of members of our pastoral care team. Pastoral Care is the care we offer to each other through visiting the sick and home-bound, taking communion to those who cannot attend church, making and the giving of prayer shawls, the meals taken for short-term need such as surgery, transportation to church and sometimes other places, healing prayers with people, and prayers on behalf of those who ask for prayer. It is impossible for the clergy to address all the needs, and therefore, many church members help. The picture is of some of the members of our team. We are also blessed to have two priests-in-residence Andy Kunz and Pat Prest, who assist as needed.
